ATOL Protection Explained: Why It Matters When Booking Umrah

Every year some UK pilgrims lose money to agents who take cash for flights and hotels they never confirm. ATOL exists precisely to prevent that, and checking it takes two minutes.

What ATOL covers

ATOL is the UK Civil Aviation Authority's financial protection scheme for package holidays that include flights. If the company fails before you travel, you get your money back; if it fails while you are abroad, your return flight is arranged. An Umrah package with flights sold in the UK should be ATOL protected.

How to verify an agent

Ask for the ATOL number and check it on the CAA's public ATOL holder list. You should also receive an ATOL Certificate immediately after paying — not weeks later, and not only if you ask.

Warning signs

Requests to pay a personal bank account or in cash, no written itinerary, no ATOL certificate, prices that are dramatically below every other agency, and pressure to pay in full immediately. Any one of these is reason to walk away.

How we book

Al Furqan Travels is ATOL protected and IATA certified. Every booking is confirmed in writing with a full itinerary, and your payment is protected from the moment it leaves your account.
